Blue Floral House Dress - Maxi Dress - 1940s - Bust 91 cm
Blue Floral House Dress - Maxi Dress - 1940s
Blue/grey and pink floral house dress or robe. This garment would have been worn by a lady while at home. She could wear it while doing some chores, entertaining a friend, or maybe dash up to the shop without needing to change into something more dressy. It was like a cross between a nice, casual at home dress and a robe or dressing gown. Buttons right down the front with large, self fabric covered buttons. The short, full, sleeves are pleated into the edge with one large, inverted pleat and have turn back cuffs. Turn back notched collar and wide, shaped lapels. The tie is not original. No tags, this is a well made homemade garment. Cotton.
The pictured tie is not original but I am happy to include it with the dress.
Small to medium. Note that this garment is designed to be worn full, probably with a tie. Although the bust/waist/hip measurements are generous the garment is closely fitted and smaller around the shoulders, back and sleeves.
Bust 91 cm (36")
Waist to 81 cm (32")
Hips to 102 cm (40")
Shoulders 35.5 cm (14")
Back 34 cm (13.5") -Note: The sleeve forms back of the back width.
Sleeve 28 cm (11")
Sleeve circumference at the cuff is 27.5 cm (10.75")
Length 134.5 cm (53")
Very good. There are a couple of tiny holes and spots, totally unnoticeable in the busy floral pattern, see photo 5, (centre of each photo). The tie is not original.
