Very old ivory muslin mob cap or servant's cap. This may be a plain day cap from the early 19th century Georgian period, or a servant's cap from later in the 19th century. It is completely hand stitched in very fine cotton muslin and is trimmed with fine, machine made lace. There is no elastic, it's gathered and stitched at the top of the ruffle, the ruffle is open at the back. American - early 19th century.
Inner circumference is 64 cm (25.25")
Ruffle length 5 cm (2")
Crown depth when folded flat 15 cm (6")
Good. There are a number of holes caused by thinning of the fabric and fraying at some of the seams.
