White cotton Victorian petticoat makes a cool and romantic summer skirt.
Full skirt is gathered to a wide waistband. The fabric has a horizontal stripe in the weave and a series of zig zag embroidered borders, as well as a horizontal tuck. The hem is finished with eyelet trim. I have added two hooks and eyes for closure at the waist. It is entirely hand stitched. 19th century.
Waist 66 cm (26")
Length 96 cm (38")
Fair. There is a large and very neat old patch, where the repairer has been careful to match the horizontal lines in the fabric. There are a couple of small holes and two or three faint marks, as shown. Two black marks on the waistband.
