Large Embroidered, Fringed, Silk Piano Shawl - Black & Silver Grey
Magnificent, very large, hand embroidered shawl, most likely bought as a souvenir in China in the late 20th century.
An elaborate floral design in silver grey thread has been embroidered on a silk crepe fabric and finished with a very long 56 cm (22") fringe. You would need to pin it about you if you wanted to wear it as it's very heavy and slips off otherwise. Very much in the style of 1920s piano shawls but made much later. Found with an estate of mostly 1980s designer clothes. The main body is silk but the fringe appears to be polyester.
Approximately 2.4 x 2.4 metres (94") square, including the fringe
