Pink Lace Dance Dress With Full Skirt, Slip & Lace Mitts With Provenance - c.1950 - XS
Adorable pink dance dress c.1950 was originally my aunt's wedding dress, later dyed and altered for use as a dance dress. The dress is being sold with it's original slip and the fingerless lace gloves worn by the bride.
See my blog article about restoring this dress at:
The pink rayon dress has a slightly dropped waist, a very full skirt, circular yoke and a cotton lace bodice, with lace extending into an edging to the cap sleeves. The back bodice features a row of tiny pearl buttons and rouleau loops. It closes at the side with hooks and eyes. The original slip is rayon, fitted at the bodice, with shoestring straps and full skirt. It closes at the side with press studs. The fingerless lace gloves are cotton. No labels - all items custom made.
After her wedding my aunt had the dress shortened, the sleeves removed, and had it dyed pink.
Bust 76 cm (30")
Waist 61 cm (24")
Length 122 cm (48")
Fair to good. The color is a bit patchy where it has been dyed - the cotton lace took the dye very well and is very pink. The rayon skirt is more of a peach color, with some streakiness. I have replaced the entire yoke and reattached the lace and buttons. There are numerous small holes and marks on the skirt, mostly lost in the fullness of the skirt when worn. 1-2 small holes in the slip. The color in the gloves is also a little uneven.
