Pale peach damask dress has a stand up collar, full skirt and long sleeves cut in one with the front and back bodice pieces. Lower-calf to ankle length. A row of tiny pearl buttons and loops closes the front. The dress has an unusual opening at the side and along the back waist seam, and closes here with snaps. The fitted sleeves also close with snaps at the wrist. The fabric is rayon damask - there is a satin look pattern in the weave. It's a home made dress, so no labels. Early 1950s.

Condition
Fair, wearable condition with flaws. One collar point is not pointy and does not stand up as well as it should. I replaced the original fabric covered buttons with pearl buttons as they were damaged. All fastenings have been secured or replaced. There are a few frayed holes and I have reinforced the largest with adhesive patches on the back, which can't be seen. A number of small frayed spots and blemishes. I have restitched the seams and trimmed and hemmed the seam excess which was frayed.
