Antique cotton nightgown reimagined as a cool summer Boho style dress.
The dress is very loose-fitting and has a high, square neckline trimmed with cotton bobbin lace. The above elbow sleeves are also edged with same lace. The raised bodice comes to below the bust and is cut in one piece with the sleeves, and the long, ankle length skirt gathered to the bodice. The waist seam is covered with embroidered trim like broderie anglaise. A different cotton lace is inserted either side of the upper opening. Opens at the front to hip level and closes with linen buttons. Fabric is cotton. No labels, it's probably a homemade or custom made garment - 1910s.
Fits bust 92-97 cm (36-38")
Length 140 cm (55")
Fair. There is a smattering of pin prick sized holes and faint rust spots at the upper front skirt, a row of faint brown spots and a larger light pink mark near the hem at the back, and a couple of larger but very faint marks, all shown in the photos. The top button is slightly squashed but still works, another button is a little frayed around the edges.
