Beautiful deep pink, cyclamen dress featuring black cornelli work at the hem and back.
Knee-length dress has an interesting sack back, where the back sits out over the skirt of the dress and looks like a separate piece. It is, however, joined to the dress at the side seams. The back buttons over the lining, which zips closed at the back with a metal zip. The appliqued black braid or cornelli work forms a hemline border and trims the sides and lower back. The fabric is heavyweight matt silk. The lining is silk gauze, with heavier rayon fabric at the zip back. No label - it appears to be a high quality custom made garment.
This dress had some fraying to the fabric at the sleeves, shoulder and neckline. I had to remove the sleeves, lower the neckline slightly and raise the hem about 1 cm (1/2"). Consequently, the armholes and neck are simply bound with bias binding.

Condition
Good - altered from the original as stated above. Also, a former owner has let out the seam at the back and underarms which has left marks, as shown. The bound buttonholes have been darned where they were frayed. Small (3 mm) holes behind two buttons, one covered button is fraying, another has a small mark, as shown. Patches to the gauze lining. Fabric fraying appears to have been stabilised but may reoccur with wear. Should be good for a few more wears.
