Antique summer blouse - plain but stylish.
This is a hip length Victorian corset cover dating to the 1880s, when bustles were in fashion. It's shaped at the waist and has extra fullness at the back to accommodate a bustle. The high neck has the binding embroidered in feather stitch. Short sleeves have cotton lace edging. Darts at the front provide shaping. It closes at the front with shell buttons. It appears to be linen, but there are no labels, it's a custom made item.

Condition
Good. A tiny patch and a small mend at the inside back neck, as shown. A small, light rust mark at one underarm, a spot beneath the front closure and a pin prick sized hole. A tiny iron on patch beneath a pin prick sized hole was added by a former owner.
