For study or display - this gorgeous girl has a number of issues. Wearable for a few more times - for a costume, or if you're not too fussy.
Beautiful pale gold silk satin brocade cheongsam with traditional front of shoulder opening. Very close fitting, mid-calf length dress. All edges are bound with silk piping. Two side slits. Closes at the shoulder/neck with press studs and hooks and eyes rather than the traditional frogs. Closes at one side with a metal zip. Lined with silk. Fabric is silk satin and metallic thread. No tags - it's a custom made garment - 1950s.
Measurements
Size - Small - My mannequin was too broad across the back and shoulders for this one so I couldn't fasten the dress. Be sure to check the back measurement, between the sleeve seams at the centre, as this is where it's smallest.
- Fits bust 84 cm (33")
- Waist 66-69 cm (26-27")
- Hips measure 92 cm (36") to fit 87 cm (34")
- Neck 35.5 cm (24")
- Shoulders 40 cm (15.75")
- Back 35.5 cm (14")
- Length 114 cm (45")
Condition
The worst fault is the fraying of the fabric on one shoulder. I have added adhesive patches at the back of the fabric to stabilise the damage. The lining is coming away from the inside of the neck. I have removed the lining from the sleeves as it was badly torn. Some fraying to the piping at the neck. Some fraying at the side seam, cosmetic rather than structural.
