I bought this skirt having been told it was an Edwardian skirt, but as soon as I saw it I knew it was not authentic. There is a zip in the back, for a start. It actually appears to be a BBC costume and judging from the fabric and zip I would say it dates back to the 1960s.
It's a very straight ankle length skirt with a waistband and a metal zip in the back. Both sides of the skirt have side slits, one side trimmed with large brown velvet buttons. Lined with rayon. The fabric is a lovely rayon faille shot through with colours in the weave and looks as though it has been repurposed from another garment.
